The annual exhibition in the northern city of Bologna, which this year runs from November 7-11, is one of the most important agricultural shows of the year and an opportunity for Perkins to demonstrate its support for the agriculture sector.
EIMA 2018
“This is a massively important show for us – all our major agricultural OEMs will be visiting or attending,” said Sylvia Burwood, marketing manager for Europe, Africa, Middle East and CIS. “We will be promoting our full extended 9-18 litre range of engines, which are ideal for larger agricultural machines such as sprayers, combine harvesters and large tractors.
“A number of our customers plan to launch new Perkins-powered machines at EIMA, which will add to the excitement of being there.”
Perkins will again be exhibiting jointly with BU Power Systems, the appointed Perkins distributor in Italy.
Perkins® Syncro range for agriculture
Highlights of the company’s presence will be Perkins® Syncro 2.8 and 3.6 litre engines. The Perkins Syncro range offers outstanding power density in a compact package, and has been designed to integrate perfectly into existing and future generations of machines for robust, adaptable power solutions.
“In addition to products,” said Sylvia, “we’ll be in Bologna with a full team of engineers and product support people across all functions, working closely with customers on the development of their Stage V machines in agriculture.”
EIMA will give the Italian market its first look at the revolutionary Perkins My Engine App which has been downloaded more than 100,000 times in its first year. The app, which is free and now available in seven languages including Italian, acts as an electronic service book for owners and operators of Perkins-powered machines with service prompts and quick reference information.
Paired with the Perkins SmartCap, it gives operators a unique window on the performance of their engines. The cap is the is the most cost effective way to add engine level telematics to a diesel engine and works on both mechanical and electronic engines.
Perkins® My Engine App update
Marketing manager Siobhan Scott said, “The Perkins My Engine App is undergoing a big update, including a new user interface with a clean, modern look and feel and many new features. Customers will see improved visualisation including a countdown to their next service. There’s also a new map feature that allows users to view all their Perkins engines on a single map.”
An important new feature from the engine management perspective is a start counter, while a more prominent link is included to help customers find their local Perkins distributor.
“The app is a big differentiator for Perkins in the market,” said Siobhan. “It works on tablets and smartphones – and it’s free.”
Perkins is also introducing new kits containing all the parts for a specific job. “With the new range of kits, you can buy exactly the parts you need for whichever area of your engine needs attention,” said Siobhan. “You get convenience, quality and plenty of choice.”
Alongside new parts, Perkins offers customers a new-for-old service plus factory-remanufactured parts carrying a 12-month warranty. “This is important in the agriculture sector and a fantastic environmental offering,” said Siobhan. Among options are remanufactured turbochargers, long and short blocks, and now fuel pumps and injectors.
“Our customers are at the heart of everything we do,” she said. “This means making sure they get the right parts at the right price, and Italian customers can get next-day delivery direct from the Perkins global distribution centre.”
